SCANable is the largest US-based 3D scanning and capture studio built for film and episodic production, with teams in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and Houston — and mobile capture studios that deploy anywhere in the country, anytime.
For decades we’ve captured the people, sets, vehicles, and worlds behind productions for every major studio and streamer — from Marvel and DC to A24 and Amblin. Our crews come up through set work, not out of a lab, and we build the arrays we shoot with. It started with one person, a severance check, and a domain name — read the founder’s story.
SYSTEMS / WE BUILT OUR OWN ARRAYS
So we built our own — and we still operate them. The arrays are for people and props: 3D and 4D scans of actors, wardrobe, and hero objects. The rest of the work uses the right instrument for the job — LiDAR for sets and environments, structured light for props, drones for locations — all of it best-in-class gear from the makers who specialise in it, run through our own workflow and pipeline. A separate, modular 150+ camera 4K rig built for lightfields, volumetrics, and the neural pipelines that learn from them — it deploys on its own, apart from our static scanning studios, and captures performance over time instead of a single frozen pose.

Custom-built photogrammetry trailers housing a 150+ camera static scanning system — a standard HERO capture runs cross-polarized, specular, and three-point beauty passes in a single sitting, OLAT-capable for fully relightable work. The whole stage mobilizes anywhere in the country and is capture-ready in as little as 15 minutes once we are on set: no travel days, no studio booking, minimal footprint on your lot. Time with the actor is about 60 seconds — two scans by default, the second held as a backup.
