‘Winner Stays’ is Nike’s 2014 FIFA World Cup film from Wieden+Kennedy Portland, directed by Rattling Stick’s Ringan Ledwidge with VFX by The Mill. The four-minute spot opens on a park pick-up game where the winner stays on — and the stakes rise instantly as the players imagine themselves as Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar. A seemingly simple game between friends becomes a grudge match aided by the unique skills of the world’s greatest footballing talent, and as the match develops, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eden Hazard, and Gonzalo Higuain join the game, each called in by name.
SCANable provided LiDAR scanning for the production, capturing point-cloud data of the locations to support camera tracking, HDRI reference, and the spot’s computer-generated visual effects.
