Philips’ ‘Innovation Celebration’ was a 2014 brand relaunch event at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Through a vibrant light show designed by world-renowned lighting and production designer Marc Brickman — who in late 2012 made history programming the Empire State Building’s first light show, with lighting by Philips and music by Alicia Keys — guests experienced Philips solutions to challenges in health care, energy efficiency, and well-being as the museum’s interior courtyard came alive with light played against its architecture.

In December 2013, Brickman tasked award-winning video system design and integration firm Pixel Density Design and SCANable with bringing his vision to life. SCANable used the latest laser scanning technology to capture high-resolution LiDAR data of the National Portrait Gallery courtyard and built an accurate, detailed 3D model that Brickman’s team used to conceptualize and render an immersive experience projected back onto the space at the live event.
