The Outsider

The Outsider is HBO’s 10-episode series based on Stephen King’s novel, starring Ben Mendelsohn as a detective facing a truly unexplainable crime. Mendelsohn plays police detective Ralph Anderson, who sets out to investigate the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson, found in the Georgia woods. The mysterious circumstances surrounding the horrifying crime lead Ralph — still grieving the recent death of his own son — to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Cynthia Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.

SCANable performed 3D body scanning of Jason Bateman and several other cast members for the series, capturing detailed photogrammetry data to support the show’s visual effects and digital double work.
