CAPTURE / 01 — DIGITAL DOUBLES
Digital Doubles
VFX photogrammetry and actor scanning for digital doubles, face replacement, crowd systems, and de-aging reference. Our 150+ camera static scanning system fires synchronized cameras in a single burst — about 60 seconds with the actor, two scans, and they are back on set.

WHAT IT IS
A production-ready likeness in a single burst.
A digital double is the foundation for face replacement, stunt and wire removal, crowd duplication, de-aging, and full-CG performance. Get the scan wrong and every downstream department pays for it, so we capture the actor as ground truth: full-body geometry, pore-level skin detail, and the specular response that makes a face read as living tissue, not a mask.
We scan principals, stunt performers, and background talent alike, and we do it on your schedule — between setups, during a fitting, or on a dedicated scan day. Because the capture itself takes a fraction of a second, we can process a whole cast without ever becoming the bottleneck in your day.
HOW SCANABLE DOES IT
The Mobile CyberSCAN™ Studios and a RAW pipeline.
Our Mobile CyberSCAN™ Studios surround the performer with 150+ synchronized cameras. A standard HERO capture is three passes in one sitting: cross-polarized strobes strip specular glare for clean diffuse albedo, a three-point beauty pass gives look development a reference of the performer lit the way a DP would light them, and an eight-direction OLAT pass fires the lights one at a time for real directional response. The result is a fully relightable likeness. Everything is captured to color-calibrated RAW and carried through our own processing pipeline, so the data your vendors receive is consistent from the first frame to the last.
The actor is only in the studio for about 60 seconds, and in that time we take two scans as standard — the second held as a backup. A blink, a moved hand, or a single bad frame never turns into a callback.
We work in Hero and Background tiers: Hero for close-up principal work that has to hold up in a full-frame shot, Background for the fast, efficient throughput a crowd system demands. And because the system lives inside the Mobile CyberSCAN™ Studios, the stage arrives at your production instead of routing your cast across the country.

FAQ
Common questions
How long does an actor have to stand in the rig?
About 60 seconds door to door — that covers a hero scan plus a backup safety scan. The capture itself is 1/60th of a second, so nothing is asked of the performer: no held pose, no held breath, no repeat takes. Their time belongs to their character, not to our equipment.
Is there setup time or a changeover between head scans, props, and full bodies?
No. The studio is configured for all three at once — 60+ of the cameras are dedicated to the head, so a head scan is not a different setup. A motorized lift raises talent into position in seconds. Nobody waits on a technician stacking apple boxes, and no performer stands on an unstable platform.
How many cameras are in a Mobile CyberSCAN™ Studio?
150+ synchronized cameras and 40+ programmable strobes per studio. For a static scan every camera and strobe fires in one instant instead of sweeping across several, which is what makes single-frame capture possible. OLAT passes instead fire the lights one at a time.
How long does an OLAT pass take?
1.4 seconds for a full pass. Every lighting direction is captured and separated in that window, which gives your lighting team a relightable asset instead of one baked lighting condition.
How long do you need on set before you can shoot?
About 15 minutes from arrival to capture-ready — on a stage, on location, or in a parking lot. The studio travels to production, not the other way around.
Is there a wait between performers?
No. Raw frames are available and reviewable the moment they are shot, and the rigs refire back to back. There is no offload gap, so a scan fits inside a lighting setup instead of needing a slot of its own.
What do you deliver?
That depends on the pipeline you are handing it to — we scope deliverables with your VFX vendor before the shoot so the data lands in a form your team can use on day one, not after a conversion pass.
